First Vanessa Seward store in the US In Los Angeles, on Melrose Place

Vanessa Seward chose Los Angeles as her first retail location in the US.  The store was designed by French architect Laurent Deroo and spans over 1,000 square feet.

In honor of this special location and the California climate, all of the elements are organized around an immense extended skylight, which structures the entire space and bathes it in natural light.

The inside of the store mirrors the iconic architectural elements used in her Paris boutiques: marbled stone floors, mineral blocks, midnight blue lacquered display screens with solid brass details, elm ceilings and fabric panel fitting rooms.

The musical selection was specially chosen by her husband, the composer

and producer Bertrand Burgalat.

Opening of the first Vanessa Seward store in Paris

Vanessa Seward has opened her first store at 10, rue d'Alger in the Ist arrondissement of Paris.

Its design was entrusted to the Laurent Deroo Architecte firm. The spirit of this new space is expressed via paradoxical pairings : adorned in stone yet warm, modern while remaining convivial, modest but simultaneously ambitious.

Thus, the ceilings, panelling and fitting rooms in elm wood set off furniture in a veined, South American stone called Sequoia Brown. The light fixtures are in brushed brass, a material that combines with the brand's signature midnight-blue colour in the lacquered steel folding screens. Cushions and hangings are woven in the manner of the Argentine gauchos’ “fajas” sashes, a nod to Vanessa Seward's origins.

The musical selection was specially chosen by her husband, the composer and producer Bertrand Burgalat.

Music and Vanessa Seward

Vanessa Seward wanted a tailor-made soundtrack for the music of her first runway show. So, she commissioned an original song from her husband Bertrand Burgalat. “Vanessa’s Way” is performed by April March, who also wrote the lyrics, as well as rapper Dolos and actress Lola Kirke, who shot to stardom in the movie Gone Girl.

The track leads into the Yuksek remix of “Odissi” by Chassol from his album Indiamore, another production by the label Tricatel.

“Vanessa’s Way” returns in a new version for the finale.

Vanessa Seward's sophisticated denim

The line of high-rise jeans designed by Vanessa Seward immediately gives form to an iconic brand style, highlighting a certain vision of elegance and femininity.

For Vanessa Seward, the waist and hips of women should be accentuated. This is why she decided to precisely adjust the shape of the legs and create a new design, very different from the flared cuts generally used for high-rise jeans. This specific cut lengthens the legs and gives the silhouette a slightly 70s touch of elegance.

Certain elements make the jeans unique: the V topstitched on the back pocket, their perfect length, the quality of their Japanese denim and the iconic link symbol on the waist button.

This same Japanese denim is used in a new way and constructed with tailoring techniques often reserved for jackets, coats and capes. These designs make up the contemporary wardrobe of active women, who wear denim day and night. For the two emblematic jeans models, the Victoire and the Alabama, an embroidery service will also be available in boutiques for customers who wish to have their first name embroidered on the back of their jeans.
